This is ludicrous

Canada's hockey team didn't even make it past the quarter finals, with a team stacked with NHL players, the defending champions from the last Olympics. Their inability to score simply astounds me. They had three shutout losses. No one else in the tournament has three shutout losses.

At least the women's team didn't choke.

It's like we're back in 1970

South Dakota house approves a "sweeping abortion ban", and supporters are hoping that this will set up a legal challenge that will eventually overturn Roe v Wade.

But at least it's now okay to ride a horse or a bike while drunk.

Candy nazi.

Kids in a Florida school refused to sell chocolate and chips as a fundraising tactic after taking a class on healthy eating, gets Mrs. Atkins to donate $16000 for their trip.

When I was in Gr. 5, we did a fundraiser for an exchange trip to Steinbach, Manitoba (not the most exotic place to go), and we sold meat. That's right, steaks, chops, roasts, meatballs... Dr. Atkins would have been proud.

Get some full time refs already.

With an 11 point spread, a touchdown for Seattle that was recalled, a touchdown for Pittsburgh that shouldn't have been a touchdown, a pass completion to the Pittsburgh red zone that was brought back by a hold that wasn't a hold (in the 4th), and an illegal block call on a tackle by Hasselbeck?

It wasn't the players that won the superbowl for the Steelers, it was the awful refereeing.

Slow week

To add to my gluttony, I recently purchased a deep frier. Surprisingly enough, they're very cheap, and the models these days are pretty well designed too, including digital displays that beep at you when the temperature is ready, and timers to shutdown the unit so you can watch TV and fry at the same time.

I just tried my first batch of wings last night, and combined with a nice hot sauce, my wings will rival pretty much any other wing place.

The deep frier will come in handy as we watch the SuperBowl this Sunday. This is the first time Seattle's been in the SuperBowl, and we're going to watch them get pummeled by the Steelers (unless of course, if, you know, the Seahawks win. Then it will be pandemonium in Seattle - I hope there will be riots).
